We have just started the second week of Summer and the heat is already intolerable. Yet, on those days when you’re going out but you don’t want to put on too much makeup; let’s say a bit of sunblock, bb cream, blush and mascara – a bright lipstick makes you look more put together and summery.

Now to be honest, these colours are totally out of my comfort zone however seeing that it is summer and bright lipsticks are a must in Summer, I thought I would give them a try and share my thoughts about them.

The first lipstick I have is my favourite shade of all; 1003 Backstage which is a peachy-coral pink. I feel that this shade suits me best out of the 3 shades I’ve tried.

Next up we have 1008 Flaunt It. It’s a bright coral-orange shade in a semi-matte texture therefore it has a slight gloss to it as well. It is definitely one of those shades that will attract attention; the name Flaunt It is very apt as well.

And finally, we have shade 1005 Hot Tottie. This is a bright fuchsia shade which is slightly more cool toned. This lipstick was part of the Whimsical Wonderland Collection.

All of these lipsticks are quite moisturizing on the lips. This is due to the fact that they contain Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, and Vitamin E to look after, and hydrate your lips. Another thing that attracted me to this collection from Sleek MakeUp is the fact that they’re extremely pigmented – one application is enough to get an opaque colour.  They apply very velvety and are quite lasting on the lips – not as long-lasting as their Matte Me liquid lipsticks – but for a bullet lipstick, they’re quite lovely. They also have a light chocolate-y scent to them, probably due to the shea butter which is a scent I personally love.

The packaging is really impressive for such a budget, drugstore brand, and Sleek MakeUp are clearly upping their game. Chic matte black casing, with a clear plastic section to see the shade (which I appreciate), gives them that luxurious feel and they do look quite pretty on your vanity.
They’re such high quality lipsticks for a drugstore priced brand! I love them!

I got mine from Melita Health and Beauty in St Julians. Sleek MakeUp are imported by Paloma Cosmetics Ltd.

Have you ever tried any of Sleek Lip Vip Lipsticks?

Review & Swatches: Sleek MakeUP Blushers

It's time to explore some more products from Sleek MakeUP, and this time it's all about their gorgeous blushes!
Let’s start with packaging! All Sleek blushes come in a matte black mirrored case which is very similar to Nars packaging. The case looks very classy and sturdy however it catches dust very easily. Apart from that, the only problem I have with the packaging is that it is shut very tightly so it’s slightly hard to open especially when you’re in a hurry.

Now onto the blushes! First I have Pixie Pink which is a bright matte Barbie pink with cool undertones. Although it looks super bright in the pan, it doesn’t come off as bright when applied therefore it gives a fresh and natural flush to cheeks. The texture of the blush is very soft which makes it very easy to blend. It’s the perfect everyday colour – especially for that Spring glow!

Flushed is a plum toned matte colour with red undertones which makes it perfect for darker skin tones. You’re probably already thinking that the colour looks scary but if you apply it with a light hand, it can look very natural as if you’re a bit flushed (as the name states). Then if you like a bolder look, its smooth consistency makes it very buildable so you have control over how much colour you want. This one is a favourite of mine since it’s a very unique colour.

Suede is a light terracotta shade with peach undertones. It’s basically an everyday shade because it looks very natural and  just gives a warmer look to your complexion. Like the previously mentioned blushes, Suede has a silky smooth texture which makes it super blendable and it also has a slightly satin finish despite it being almost matte. Definitely a must have!

Pomegranate is a rich berry shade with microscopic specks of golden shimmer. This is the perfect fall/winter shade.  It’s suitable for all skin tones especially those with medium to dark skin tones would rock this shade. Even with the golden specks of shimmer I mentioned earlier, when applied it does not look too shimmery but it gives a nice radiant sheen to the skin. This blush also blends like a dream and it does not get patchy throughout the day.

Pros of the Sleek Makeup Blush:
-Affordable
-Super pigmented so a little goes a long way
-Soft, silky and easy to blend texture
-No scent
-Longlasting
-Finely milled thus it does not accentuate pores

Cons:
-Packaging is slightly hard to open
-If not applied with a light hand, it might come off too strong.

These Sleek single blushes are super affordable not to mention they are not tested on animals which is a huge plus! These blushes can be found online here or locally at Melita Health and Beauty (visit their facebook for daily updates and also visit them on April 1st and 2nd for a Sleek MakeUP weekend!)

Review & Swatches: Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Au Naturel’

Review & Swatches: Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Au Naturel’

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while now but I always end up writing about something else. I’ve had this palette for a while now and it’s been my go to, everyday eyeshadow palette despite the fact that some colours are not so great (but more on that later).

The Sleek 'Au Naturel' eye shadow palette is a mix of 12 colours; 8 mattes and 4 shimmers in varying shades of beige, fawn and brown. There’s some definite similarities to a certain cult Urban Decay palette, but as I don’t own any of the Naked palettes I can’t comment on how close other than the theme and shade choices.  The top row mattes (see shades from 01 to 04 in the palette and swatches) are slightly disappointing because they're so sheer that they barely show  but the bottom row’s mattes and frosty shades are amazing (shades 05 to 12); they are both highly pigmented, have an easy-to-blend texture and fallout is very minimal.
The palette also comes with a decent sized mirror so that’s definitely a bonus especially if you want to take it with you while travelling. The case is very sturdy and stylish with a matte finish, the downside to this is that it has a tendency to pick up dust and fingerprints but a good swipe will clean them.

Shade Details:
  1. Nougat: A matte chalky white/cream which can be used as a base colour.
  2. Nubuck: Matte light ashy grey. Not great pigmentation wise (very sheer).
  3. Cappuccino: Soft matte beige which is exactly the same shade as my skin therefore doesn't show up
  4. Honeycomb: A matte beige with a hint of yellow, okay-ish pigmentation-wise.
  5. Toast: A matte pale orangey-peach shade which is also sheer.
  6. Taupe: A very light shimmery champagne with a hint of peach. Pigmentation is lovely (especially if used wet) and works great as a highlighter in the inner corner of the eye. My favourite shade
  7. Conker: A shimmery dark reddish bronze with great colour payoff.
  8. Moss: A dirty golden-olive brown with great pigmentation.
  9. Bark: A deep cool matte brown with a lovely smooth finish.
  10. Mineral Earth: A shimmery dark brown with amazing colour payoff.
  11. Regal: A matte brown/taupe with purple undertones.
  12. Noir: A dark matte black.
I would suggest this palette for anyone who wants to create natural day time looks or dark smokey eyes.  Personally I don’t love it as a whole palette but if I had to judge it based on the bottom row, I would say that it's pretty great so I still think it’s a great value for money especially when it's so affordable!

You can find the palette online here or if you live in Malta, at Roseberry, Valletta.
