Review & Swatches: BeYu Cosmetics | Sensual Spring 2017 Collection

Review & Swatches: BeYu Cosmetics | Sensual Spring 2017 Collection

With the arrival of Spring, we see a lot of brands coming out with new collections. And BeYu Cosmetics, a brand I’ve already talked about in previous posts, came out with a new collection called Sensual Spring. So let’s move on to the reviews and swatches!

Be Sensual Highlighting Powder
This highlight is made up of beautiful swirls of pastel shades that when combined together give you that subtle, sheer glow which makes the skin appear more youthful and glowing from within. This highlight gently reflects the light without making you to shiny – especially if you have oily skin. Its light texture makes it perfect for warm/hot weather because it’s pleasant and gentle on the skin. And because it gives a subtle glow rather than a more in your face highlight, I think it would be suitable for all skin tones. The mineral oil and fragrance-free highlighting power is also suitable for sensitive skin.

Be Sensual Eyeshadow Palette in No. 2 Sensory Appeal
This palette is made up of rose and pink shades ranging from light to dark. I must admit that the texture is slightly powder, however I found a way to work around that – I apply the eyeshadows using my finger + I slightly dampen my finger to get the full potential of the colour and then blend the edges with a brush. The packaging is a trendy marble-inspired metal box which makes it great for travelling. This palette also comes in another set of colours – No. 1 Sensual Appeal which is made up of browns and champagne colours.

Sensual Lip Oil in No. 3 Huge Pleasure
Lip Oils are big this season. This Sensual Lip Oil is gives a subtle pink sheen to the lips, leaving them looking smooth as if you just applied a glossy lip balm. Rich ingredients such as jojoba oil, Karité butter and vitamin E are found in this oil and help protect even sensitive lips. The Oil can be applied on its own, underneath or over your usual lipstick for even more bright and glossy look. It sits comfortably on the lips however like every other lip gloss, I’d suggest you wear it on days when it’s not windy.

All these products are suitable for sensitive skin as skin compatibility is dermatologically approved. Also, if I’m not mistaken, this is a limited edition collection so make sure to get your hands on it while it’s still available.

Review & Swatches: BeYu Cosmetics | It's all about the base

Review & Swatches: BeYu Cosmetics | It's all about the base

It’s time for another BeYu instalment and this time we’re covering the base!

BeYu Velvet Mat Foundation
I’m starting off with a product I’ve been using for the past 6 months or so. To remind you, I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and drier patches around the outer parts of my face. While browsing, I ended up choosing this foundation because it's oil free and gives that perfectly matte finish, and since I needed it for everyday wear, the price was just right. It gives the face a smooth and soft finish almost like cashmere and it also prevents the skin from getting greasy quickly. It also gives a medium coverage which I love, however if you want a more sheer finish, you can mix it with other foundations and it still works great. I like applying it with the BeYu Beauty Sponge* (I believe that this would make a good dupe for the beauty blender although I do not own it).  Personally, I did not find any faults in this product so it’s a definite re-purchase for me!

Cover & Clear Spot Stick
The next product I purchased with the foundation was the Cover & Clear Spot Stick (which I forgot to photograph). I use this product to cover single blemishes; I apply it directly to the spot and blend it with the rest of my foundation. It’s pencil form gives you great manipulation thus you can apply it exactly wherever you need it and it covers the spot perfectly. It also includes anti-inflammatory and disinfecting salicylic acid so at the same time you’re covering the blemish, you're also treating it and not inflaming it more.

The final product I'll be talking about in this post is the Sun Glow Bronzer*. This gives a nice, warm glow to the face; it’s a great product to use during the wintery months, to give that summer glow back to your skin. It also has tiny specs of sheer glitter which add to the glow. It provides that natural tanned look while protecting your skin with its SPF 15 factor.

Review, Swatches & Tips : Contouring 101 | BeYu Cosmetics Strobe and Define Palette

Review, Swatches & Tips : Contouring 101 | BeYu Cosmetics Strobe and Define Palette

I’m back with another BeYu instalment! And this time it’s all about contouring!

Let me start by telling you about the palette first. The BeYu Strobe & Define Palette is made up of 4 shades: a dark matte cool brown for contouring, a fresh yet delicate rosy blush, a matte highlighting powder and a pearlescent highlighting powder. Inside the palette there’s also a guide on how to use the shades which makes it easy to achieve the best contouring results possible.

Now let’s move onto the how to of this post!

First, start by mapping out the hollows of your cheekbones. Then you want to apply the product on the temples of your forehead, the side of the jaw and down the sides of the nose (circled in white).

Once you’re done blending out your contour, highlight with the Strobe Matt any areas of your face you want to brighten; underneath the eyes in a V shape, on the bridge of the nose, in the middle of your forehead, on the chin and underneath the contour of the cheekbones to sharpen them out (circled in beige).

Next is the blush shade which is to be used on the apples of your cheeks and this gives you a more flushed and healthy look whilst giving the face a more blended finish (circled in pink).

Lastly, use the Strobe Pearl on the high points of your face: on top of the cheekbones, a little bit on the tip of the nose and on the Cupid’s bow (circled in brown).

The secret to defined yet natural looking contouring is to blend, blend, blend. Blending is key when it comes to contouring like a pro because you want a natural looking defined face not end up with a harsh line.

Final thoughts on this palette:
I absolutely love it! The shades are gorgeous; they are the equal amount of pigmented and easy to blend which makes them a dream to work with. The contour shade is the perfect shade as it is not orangey at all. The highlighters seep into the skin beautifully; the matte one gives your face the nice awakened look while the pearl one, although it’s not super shimmery, gives a nice healthy glow to the face. Lastly, the blush is the perfect shade as it matches every look and gives you that flushed look and a soft freshness.

Have you ever tried contouring before? If not and you’re going to try it out, I hope you found this post helpful!

Review & Swatches: BeYu Cosmetics | Eyeliners & Mascara

Welcome to the 2nd BeYu instalment! Now that you have already read a brief summary of the brand in Part 1 (which if you have you can read here), I can jump right into my reviews. So let’s start!

BeYu Model Mascara Intense
Let me start by saying, I just love this mascara! It builds volume and lengthens the lashes like no other. It gives your lashes that voluminous and full effect without clumping and the pigment is very intense yet the texture is smooth and dries so quickly! The brush has a curled shape, almost a figure 8 like shape that makes reaching every lash with ease. This mascara is part of BeYu’s Honolulu Happiness Spring Summer 2016 Collection. It is also suitable for contact lens wearers. I definitely recommend it!

Soft Liner for Eyes and More
Both liners are in the same shade (610) however packaging differs due to one being part of the Summer 2014 Camouflair Limited Edition Collection. This liner is really pigmented. It's also very soft and glides easily on skin. It’s an excellent product to get that smokey eye effect as it smudges very easily.  However, I mostly use it as a base for my liquid liner as I draw the wing first with the soft liner and then I go over it with a liquid liner. I find that it makes a great difference to get the right shape before going in with a liquid liner. One small downside to this product is that it is not suitable for the waterline but apart from that, it’s a very nice eyeliner that comes in a wide range of colours.

BeYu Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner
A great liquid liner is a makeup bag must-have (at least for me it is!). For these past 6 months I have been using this liquid eye liner and believe me when I tell you, it made my life so much easier when it comes to applying winged liner. This is because the brush allows an easy and precise application. It’s waterproof thus making it very long-lasting without the colour fading or smudging. So if you want that sexy black cat-eye, BeYu’s Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in no.10 (deep black) is definitely the way to go!

All the mentioned products are dermatologically approved suitable for sensitive eyes and they are fragrance free.

As you might have seen on my page, earlier this month I had the opportunity to meet and get my makeup done by Tom Strohmetz who is the official makeup artist and international trainer from BeYu. Before the session started, Tom presented me with a brief summary of the brand.

BeYu was launched in 1999 and it is part of the ARTDECO cosmetic group. Their products are made of high quality European ingredients and products are also scientifically tested for compatibility and application thus making them dermatologically approved for sensitive skin and also ophthalmological approved for sensitive eyes. Their products are also paraben free and are not tested on animals.

Recently, I managed to get my hands on some of their cosmetics and I thought it would be a great idea to divide them into different instalments and review their products. So let’s start with the first review!

1. Pure Colour and Stay Lipstick in No. 218 – Pink Hibiscus

First of all, this lipstick is extremely long lasting and extremely pigmented. It took me a while to remove it from my lips and even when I swatched it on my hand. It has a matte finish without making your lips feel dry and it does not highlight any lines (believe me, my lips are constantly cracked and dry and this applied fantastically as you can see). It is made out of natural waxes thus giving you a smooth and even application.  Its packaging is black thus making it very sleek and chic. This shade is part of the Honolulu Happiness Spring/Summer 2016 range. Although I’m not one to usually wear bright colours, I’m willing to try something out of my comfort zone so I’m already seeing it being a great colour for next Spring.

2. Star Lipstick in No. 31 – Nude Touch

This shade is a tad too light for me however it’s a beautiful nude – it’s not too pink and not too brown. Despite the fact that I believe that it’s slightly too light for me, I can still make it work. It goes beautifully with a dark smokey eye plus one can use it on top of another lipstick to lighten and give a nice sheen. Its texture is very buttery and nourishing. The packaging of this lipstick is different from the rest of the Star Lipsticks due to it being part of the Summer 2014 Camouflair Limited Edition Collection.

3. Star Lipstick in No. 152 – Naked Plum

This has to be my favourite one! It’s a strong plum red with a soft gloss. Its soft texture makes the lipstick very smooth to apply and it settles beautifully on the lips without sinking into any fine lines. It has a very nourishing effect on the lips which is immediately obvious upon applying. It has a nice scent and comes in gorgeous silver packaging. I already know that this will be one of my go-to shades this Fall!
