Review: Dior Airflash Foundation

In search for the perfect foundation, I ended up at Franks and with the help of the lovely Nadine I found a new Holy Grail product for my skin – Dior Airflash. To be honest, I hadn’t heard anything (positive or negative) about this foundation so I didn’t know what to expect. I must admit I was rather sceptical about the idea of a spray-on foundation since I had never used a product of the sort.

To use it, you give the 70ml can a good shake before use, then spray the fine mist about 20cm away from your face and blend in with a brush. This gives me a light even coverage. What is great about this product is that it is buildable yet it doesn’t leave your face look cakey. To build it up, I spray it on a kabuki brush and apply it to the places I need more coverage on.

It has a soft velvet (semi) matte finish; after you spray it settles as a fine powder so the trick is to be fast when it comes to blending as it dries pretty quickly. I have combination to oily skin; an oily t-zone with dry patches here and there and although it doesn’t cling to the dry patches, I do not suggest it to those with super dry skin.

This definitely falls under the high-end luxury makeup side of the spectrum so I mostly use it for when I want to look my best; for events and for when I know I’ll be getting photographed. Despite that it is slightly more expensive than your usual foundation, I do believe that it is one of the best foundations I’ve ever used.

It leaves your skin simply glowing, looking flawless but natural at the same time thus airbrushed!

I just adore this foundation!

Review & Swatches: Rimmel London X Kate Moss 15 Year Anniversary Collection | Lipsticks*

Review & Swatches: Rimmel London X Kate Moss 15 Year Anniversary Collection | Lipsticks*

Good evening my lovelies! Now I’m sure that by now you’ve seen the new Rimmel London X Kate Moss 15 year anniversary collection. To celebrate 15 years of Kate Moss being the face of Rimmel, they’ve released six new shades of the Kate lipsticks in stunning rose gold packaging and Kate’s signature on the lid.

Rose gold is so in right now, and I have to admit that the first thing that caught my eye was the packaging however the lipsticks themselves are gorgeous as well. Although there are 6 colours in the collection, thanks to Rimmel Malta I got the chance to try out 2 of the colours; 55 My Nude and 53 Retro Red.

My Nude is a gorgeous beigey nude, a kind of my lips but better sort of shade. I found that from all the lipsticks I’ve ever tried (and believe me, that’s a lot) this is the perfect nude for my skin tone.

Retro Red is a beautiful berry red shade with a slight cool undertone – perfect for the upcoming holiday season.

As you can see in the photos, they apply beautifully. The formula is their classic lasting finish, so a lovely natural satin finish, comfortable on the lips, so creamy and pigmented. They apply like a dream! And even though they are lipsticks, they lasted quite a while on my lips which is a bonus!

I will tell you about the nail polishes in another post as I haven’t tried them yet but the colours look lovely + they look so appropriate for Christmas and New Year!

Have you tried these gorgeous lipsticks yet?

Review, Swatches & Tips : Contouring 101 | BeYu Cosmetics Strobe and Define Palette

Review, Swatches & Tips : Contouring 101 | BeYu Cosmetics Strobe and Define Palette

I’m back with another BeYu instalment! And this time it’s all about contouring!

Let me start by telling you about the palette first. The BeYu Strobe & Define Palette is made up of 4 shades: a dark matte cool brown for contouring, a fresh yet delicate rosy blush, a matte highlighting powder and a pearlescent highlighting powder. Inside the palette there’s also a guide on how to use the shades which makes it easy to achieve the best contouring results possible.

Now let’s move onto the how to of this post!

First, start by mapping out the hollows of your cheekbones. Then you want to apply the product on the temples of your forehead, the side of the jaw and down the sides of the nose (circled in white).

Once you’re done blending out your contour, highlight with the Strobe Matt any areas of your face you want to brighten; underneath the eyes in a V shape, on the bridge of the nose, in the middle of your forehead, on the chin and underneath the contour of the cheekbones to sharpen them out (circled in beige).

Next is the blush shade which is to be used on the apples of your cheeks and this gives you a more flushed and healthy look whilst giving the face a more blended finish (circled in pink).

Lastly, use the Strobe Pearl on the high points of your face: on top of the cheekbones, a little bit on the tip of the nose and on the Cupid’s bow (circled in brown).

The secret to defined yet natural looking contouring is to blend, blend, blend. Blending is key when it comes to contouring like a pro because you want a natural looking defined face not end up with a harsh line.

Final thoughts on this palette:
I absolutely love it! The shades are gorgeous; they are the equal amount of pigmented and easy to blend which makes them a dream to work with. The contour shade is the perfect shade as it is not orangey at all. The highlighters seep into the skin beautifully; the matte one gives your face the nice awakened look while the pearl one, although it’s not super shimmery, gives a nice healthy glow to the face. Lastly, the blush is the perfect shade as it matches every look and gives you that flushed look and a soft freshness.

Have you ever tried contouring before? If not and you’re going to try it out, I hope you found this post helpful!

Review: Olay Skincare*

Review: Olay Skincare*

For me skin care is a priority. As you know, for a makeup look to turn out right you have to have a nice canvas to begin with, and that is why good skin care products are a must. In this post I will be reviewing some Olay products I’ve been testing out for the last couple of months, so read on!

OLAY Refreshing Facial Cleansing Gel
This product has been my cleanser of choice for a while now. Its gel-to-foam formula is very gentle on the skin leaving your face feeling clean and refreshed due to aloe vera and cucumber extracts. Also, a little bit goes a long way (I put a pea-size amount on my hands and lather it up before I apply to my face) and it’s a very affordable cleanser as well, so you can’t go wrong!

OLAY Essentials Beauty Fluid
This product is such a classic! I remember my mum using it as part of her skin care regime when I was younger and I always loved its scent. My mum swears by this product! Now that the weather is (finally) getting colder, our skin screams for moisturizing and hydrating products and this product gives it all the moisture it requires. This daily moisturizer not only provides you with the essential moisture your skin needs leaving it feeling soft and smooth but its light, not too thick nor too runny non-greasy formula is quickly absorbed into the skin making it an ideal base for make-up, it’s also dermatologically tested and pH Neutral
.

OLAY Total Effects Moist Blemish Care 50ml
Despite my high hopes for this product, it didn’t work out for my skin. However, I’m not giving blame to this product as I know that my skin is at fault here; my breakouts are too stubborn.  This product is Olay’s first moisturizer to offer all the anti-aging properties of the Total Effects range PLUS an added anti-blemish complex. It has a unique blend of 7 vitamins and minerals and 'salicylic' anti-blemish complex helps fight ageing and the appearance of blemishes at the same time, giving you younger and clearer looking skin. Although I didn’t find it as successful on my skin in the anti-blemish department, I still use the product as a moisturizer as its very light and silky texture makes it a great base for makeup.

OLAY Complete Care Day Cream
During the summer I used this product religiously every day, no lie! It hydrates, nourishes and protects the skin day by day. It is said to be for those with normal/dry skin however I found that it also worked great on my combination/dehydrated skin. Although it’s a daily facial moisturiser, it has loads of benefits such as: SolaSheerTM UVA/UVB protection with SPF15, 24h Moisture that hydrates 7 layers deep, aloe Vera to calm dry, sensitive skin, a non-greasy, easily absorbed formula that won't clog pores thus making it a great base for makeup and skin pampering nourishing vitamins (B3, E and Pro-V B5). The product is also dermatologically tested.

Should you be interested in trying out these products, you can purchase them directly from the agents of Olay in Malta - VJ Salomone - from their online shop: http://shop.vjsm.com.mt/beauty-personal-care/olay/

Have you ever tried Olay products?
